Challenge 1, Day 2: To workout or to not workout?

When is it ok to work out when I'm sick? (For more insight into the question, Men's Health has a good article on how to decide here.)

Get off the couch!
Every time I do any type of work out series, I always manage to get sick. Sometimes, it is that "sick" that is more of an excuse to lay on the couch or sleep in, but there are other times when I just need to relax. Today, I decided it was the former. Instead of being lazy or over-exaggerating being "sick," I took my Pinterest board to heart and got up off the couch.

Now when it comes to working out, I rarely (read: pretty darn close to never) go out to exercise. Travis and I are very different in that respect. He is all about working out in the great outdoors. As for me, I absolutely love looking at people who run along the National Mall and dream about being one of them, gliding along blissfully as I pass the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument. Sadly, after living in the DC region for a total of 2 1/2 years, that has happened a grand total of one time. And I know I was not as graceful as those other runners since I had to battle with my allergies.

So that leaves me doing workouts in the gym or finding DVDs or workouts to do at home. Since I don't have a gym in my condo building and don't have a gym membership (another post on that later), I used the incredible Internet to find me some good workouts.

Today's workouts came from the awesome Cassey Ho of Blogilates. She is one fantastically optimistic trainer who focuses on a lot of Pilates moves. Unlike Mari Winsor-style Pilates where sweating is at a minimum, Cassey's workouts will leave you drenched and super exhausted. But because she is such a sweetheart and so nice about how she makes you do her workouts, you just can't get too angry at her. Here's what I ended up doing!

1. Victoria Secret Ab Workout: I died in the first 2 minutes. But such a good feeling!

2. Call Me Maybe Squat Challenge: There's a point where Cassey says to go lower. You will probably scream no.

3. Quiet Cardio: Nice respite after the first two videos.

4. Gangnam Style Cardio Dance Workout: So. Much. Fun. Do this!

Stay tuned for another update tomorrow! Hopefully this time, Travis will get around to writing in ;)
