A big problem that we have is allowing each other to either skip a workout or eat too many treats. Sure, we are challenging each other to be better when it comes to our health and fitness goals. But since we are in a pseudo-competition, there are times when we have allowed each other to cheat, the logic being that if one does badly, the other can do badly too and we can call it even. It goes something like this:
Referring to a piece of pie. I'll eat it if you eat it too.
Response: Great! Let's dig in.
Or, it'll go a little something like this:
I want to skip the workout today.
Response: Sweet. I'll skip it with you.
In other words, we are enablers.

| Enabling is tying us down together. |
Enabling behavior is born out of our instinct for love. It's only natural to want to help someone we love, but when it comes to certain problems - helping is like throwing a match on a pool of gas and enabling behaviors have the reverse effect of what is intended.
We have spent the past few weeks doing everything in our power NOT to enable each other to do the things that go against the spirit of our Fit Challenge. It sure is not easy, but it has made such a huge difference in the progress we have been making with our fitness and health goals!
